What this is

vaadagai.homes is a free, anonymous, crowd-sourced map of what renters actually pay in Chennai, plus an opt-in marketplace for listing a place or finding a flatmate. All rent data is user-reported and unverified. Treat it as a reference, not a guarantee, and verify independently before you act on it. Using the site means you accept these terms.

The map and the marketplace are separate

The rent map shows anonymous, verified-by-neighbours rents and carries no contact details of any kind. The marketplace (listings and flatmate posts) shows asking prices posted directly by owners. Listings never affect the map’s medians, and the two spaces do not share data.

Your content

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit, and it must be truthful to the best of your knowledge.
Prohibited: deliberately false rents, fake listings, defamatory content, and broker-driven asking prices disguised as genuine renter data.
You keep ownership of what you post, and grant us a licence to display and aggregate it to run the service.

Callbacks and contact sharing

There is no automatic contact matching. Posters share no public contact. When you request a callback on a listing, you choose to share your own phone or email with that one listing’s owner, who reads it from a private link and calls you back. Contact details never appear on the map. If you no longer want a listing reachable, delete it from its manage link. See the Privacy Policy for the full flow.

Acceptable use

You may browse and use the data for your own renting decisions. You may not:

scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the data or the API by any automated means;
republish, resell, mirror, or build a competing dataset or product from it;
attempt to de-anonymize contributors or re-identify individuals;
circumvent rate limits, or abuse the report, listing, or callback features.

The compiled dataset is protected by database rights; access is a revocable licence for personal, non-commercial use only. Automated access to /api/* is not permitted (see robots.txt).

Moderation

A pin that receives 3 reports from distinct users is automatically hidden.
Rents far outside the local range are flagged: still visible, marked unusual, and excluded from medians until reviewed. Unreviewed flags age out after 30 days but stay excluded.
We may remove content, hide a pin, or rate-limit an address at our discretion to keep the data trustworthy.

No warranty

The service and all data are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantee about accuracy or completeness. Always verify a rent independently before relying on it.

Limitation of liability

We are not a broker, agent, or party to any rental agreement. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from decisions made using this site.
